The Agile Coach will provide support to improve our customers software development programs by utilizing the agile process framework. They assist in the modernization of business practices and processes using their knowledge of agile to guide leadership towards a goal defined by the customer. The Agile Coach must also be able to provide objective perspectives using their lessons learned from years of experience, advocating for effective change with the proper amount of buy-in from the organization.

Responsibilities of this role

  • Provide mentorship, education as well as developing/delivering guidance and instructions documentation to enable program personnel in defining/refining the organization’s Agile processes

  • Provide expert support to develop, document, and implement agile practices that are situationally appropriate.

  • Engage in Agile ceremonies, backlogs grooming, agile project management, document use cases, and developing user stories.

  • Coach program team members on the Agile best practices, and how they apply to the program.

  • Conduct gap analysis on customer programs by defining as-is and to-be processes; then assist with the implementation of the as-is processes.

  • Ensure monthly status reports of activities are delivered to the program owner on a timely basis.

  • Identify program risks, communicating their impact and mitigation strategy to the program owner.

  • Enhance programs processes and practices to align them with the agile best practices.

  • Govern delivery and continuous improvement for the organization with a pragmatic approach.

  • Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus that has outcomes beneficial to the programs owners deliverables.

  • Focus on building trusted relationships with the program owner and team members.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 5 years of Agile Coaching experience

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

  • Scrum certified by Scrum Alliance or Scrum.org and SAFe 4.5 required

  • Must demonstrate experience designing and implementing agile coaching engagements for mid to senior level professionals, emerging leaders and first time managers.

  • Advanced understanding of the practices and principles of Scrum, and real-world experience that successfully guide teams and organizations through agile transformation challenges.

  • Experience in leadership coaching, organizational transformation, and Agile practices at the team level.

  • Experience as a hands-on organizational change agent working across multiple teams and organizational boundaries

  • Experience with assisting leadership and team members with removing barriers and embracing transformation by assisting each organization to customize its own path, approach and solutions to becoming Agile.

  • Experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) leading Agile transformation by leveraging best practices and principles.

  • Experience with Agile Release Trains, Continuous Delivery Pipeline with DevOps culture, and empower a Lean Portfolio, and clearly understand what it takes to successfully implement SAFe

  • Experience supporting and executing Program Increment (PI) Planning events, and coordinating Agile Release Trains (ARTs).

  • Experience in building and supporting Agile teams and programs, and coordinating large solutions
